Getting back to training after 6 months

Hi,
I've been away from the gym for over 6 months. As a result i've lost definition and motivation.
Its easy when the ball is rolling and a training schedule is planned out. I tried to goto the gym last month and on doing just the Cross Trainer and rowing, i was completely shattered. I suppose i was expecting too much just to hit the ground running at full speed.
Can anyone recommend how i can get back into a routine again?
Any advice will be greatly appriciated.
Rgds,
H

i had to stop for like 2 month because of injury, and my best advice is to push your self much as you can at the gym and in time, you will get back to full strenght.

i would say find your current limit and start building up again, i have found if you push yourself too hard you can lose motivation. so even though its frustrating you need to take your time

Consider your time at the gym an appointment you must keep. Getting there is half the battle. Plan your workout. Know exactly what you're going to do before you get there. Do not plan on doing more than you can handle. Keep the first week light workouts. You know you can handle that. Once you've completed a week of light workouts, you will know where your current level is and you can start progressing from there. It's always shattering trying to hit the ground full speed after a layoff because you think you can always do more than your body says it can. Then when it doesn't happen, we give up. Just keep it light for the first week, then progress from there. Small successes lead to bigger ones.
