Graveyard Shift & My Body

Prior to getting a job, I was in top shape - I had all day every day to work out. Despite trying to prevent it, since my 7pm-7am job, My 6-pack is a memory, and my hips are going their separate ways, one East, one West.

My body rejects late night eating, so I eat my chicked and broccoli in the day, then sip on protein at night. Unfortunately to stay awake, I also sip on coffee, No Doze and blow pops!!!

I get to the gym adequately, but I'm getting sick a lot and my results are not happening as swiftly as they used to. I am so discouraged. The weather is perfect and I am not ready to show off as usual. I don't look the same in any of my gym clothes.

My work schedule: 7pm-7am
Week 1: Mon., Tue., Fri-Sun.
Week 2: Wed.-Thurs.
(rotate next 2 weeks)

I am currently not working and like you did have all day every day to work out and am in good shape, but very soon I will also be working 7 pm to 7 am. Of course I havent felt the effects yet. I plan on working out a couple hours on my days off and hopefully short workouts either before or after my shift. The food thing is what Im worried about.

hey guys just like you I worked graveyards all last year. Pain in my ass. the only hint i can help you with is sleep like three hours before you go thats the only thing that helps me it sounds stupid but try it see if it helps.when i did grave it was easy to go to the gym.hey guys becarefull though after i moved back home my mom seen something on tv that some peoples bodys are not cut out to do graves. so if you get sick or cant get back to normall see the doctor.

now my problem has is the other way i know have rotating shifts and i am fine on day shifts but graves i sleep to much.

I used to do midnight - 8am at a gas station, and I wouldn't go back to that. My main problem was that there wasn't anything healthy to eat there, and it was a pain in the ass bringing food in. I guess some people's bodyclocks are more flexible than others, I worked 4 on/4 off and switched between graveyard sleep and normal sleeping pattern through that cycle. I can't really comment on the fitness side of things, because I was only just getting into it and learning the facts at that time.
