guerrilla Cardio

Ok I read over how the guerrilla Cardio was supposed to go

Minutes 1-4: Warm up @50% of perceived maximum efort

Minutes 5-8: sprint 20 seconds rest for 10 seconds

Minutes 9-12: cool-down @ 50% of perceived maximum effort.

My question is could I do this in a stationary bike? will I burn the same amount on a stationary bike ? I get home late sometimes so the stationary bike would work for me if it works the same. Could you give me your opinion on it , thanx

Yep you could do it on the bike, I do it on the cross-trainer sometimes - you know that thing where your arms and legs go everywhere

Yeah, I do it on a bike and it really gets my HR up fast. I also do it on an eliptical machine sometimes for a change of pace and that gives a pretty good workout, too.

The original study (by Dr. Tabata in Japan) where this protocol was developed used a bike. Since then people have applied it to all manner of exercise: running, rowing, even exercises not normally practiced for cardio like body weight calisthenics - push ups, situps, deep knee bends, etc. - and weight training movements. It is useful in all of them although in my opinion the movements that tend to use the largest muscle groups work best.

Have you tried it out yet? Be sure you do at the store to make sure it is suitable for you. I prefer the recumbent bike type myself, but that is just me. Either type will suffice for guerilla cardio as long as you can get your HR up though.
