Hacks!

Okay Hacks really Hack me off LOL.

Man those things kick my butt! Does anyone know just how much the bar weighs because last night I put on 2- 25lbs weights and damn if I could not squat all the way down or I would not be getting back up. I feel like such a weakling when I am doing them. That machine I will conquer!!!!!!!!!

I have been lifting for quite a while but I have never done hack squats before and I was limited before to my leg exercises for awhile. I could only do exercises with dumbells. Like dumbell squats, dumbell lunges, stiff legged deads. Those were all the exercises I was doing for legs since Jan. So I guess I just have to work my way up again. Plus I am doing 12 reps so I had to use a little lighter weight. Like I said I will conquer the hacks

I would recommend doing front squats instead of hack squats. I have been doing hacks for a few months now, and I have not been too pleased with them. Front squats seem to hit the quads more.

after comparing both squats and hacks they look totally the same which i guess isnt a bad thing cause i can sub hacks for squats to change up the workout . I just wonder of they hit the quads as good as squats ? but i will try them anyway thanks for the tip

Nothing can beat doing hack squats for developing the tear-drop part of the lower quads. If you haven't tried hack squats, then you are missing out on an amazing exercise and muscle gains!!! Learn to do this exercise with a lot of weight and then....reap the benefits of shorts busting quads!

No, I would not ever replace squats with hack squats, full rep free-standing squats cannot be beaten! I usually do squats followed by hack squats to really exhaust the legs...then finish the quads off with leg extensions. Squats are good for overall thigh developement, whereas hack squats shift more emphasis on the front lower part of the quads (tear drops).
