"hammer grip" pullups

the pullup bar at my gym has two handles that stick towards me, so you would grab them with a hammer grip. is this a good way to build the fore arms?

Many people find this is a great grip for pull ups. Forearms (grip) get worked to some extent.

To build forearms you need to do wrist curls. Sure anything like pullups fo shrugs where you are holding a heavy weight will work your grip and I guess increase your forearm size some. But if you want to really focus on them then you need to do somthing that isolates the forearms.
