Hanging Leg Raises

Now for hanging leg raises, if I ever try doing them by just holding on to a pull up bar or something similar (since I don't really have access to a gym or health club), I tend to experience a problem with having my body swing, while I'm descending my legs.

Is there anyway that I can prevent my body from swinging while I'm trying to attempt hanging leg raises without support?

I know that hanging leg raises are practically the same thing as the Roman Chair, but with no support on the back.

You just have to tense as much as you can, tense so much that your whole body is stiff and you control it every move you make, concentrate contracting your abs to lift your body, and then hold and contract all you can down, thats best for control just tense as much as you can and concentrate.

How can I be sure that my body is stiff, while trying to attempt hanging leg raises without swinging the body while descending the legs?

Get someone to watch you, and then when they say you did it good with enough tension to move your legs down without woddbling or being unstable, thats how you know , that , that is how you have to do it everytime. Getting someone to watch when you do it is a really good way, the only for sure way to get it spot on ! when you get it spot on repeat it like that until you get used to it !

How effective are hanging leg raises on the upper, lower abs and obliques, if done properly and correctly?

Pc, do the movement slowly while curling your hips up. That will help to keep the swing (and momentum) out of the movement and make it a much better exercise.
