Headache from lifting?

i posted this in my journal but i don't expect to get any feedback there so i'll ask here...

the past few months i have gotten severe headaches when i train too intensely. problem is, i don't feel them coming on until its already occured. this headache has happened twice to me. it goes away after a day and doesn't come back if i stop working out for a few days. however, if i continue working out the next day or so, it will come back even if i go easy. also, i have only experienced this pain when pushing heavy weight, never pulling. the two times it has happened are bench press and leg press. i think the problem maybe be that when i put my head back maybe the blood rushes to my head, or that i don't get enough oxygen to my brain. not really sure. also, im considering doign a totalbody workout 3 times a week so i can train with less intensity each time. what do you guys think? sorry if i haven't described the problem well.

Well im not an expert but are you getting enough water? Im sure you are drinking lots of it but thought i would ask anyway. I noticed if i work out in the morning and i dont drink alot of water before i go to bed i get a headache when im working out. Im not sure if you workout in the am or pm.

Its prob something else causein it like maybe stress? just givein ya some hints.

This is oxygen related, has a lot to do with oxygen debt. How is your breathing during exercise ? Before you bench, just take a minute to lie flat under the bar and breathe, some people swing themselves under the bar and rep them out asap ... big no no. If there's one thing you really don't want to happen it's for you to cause pressure in that area, concentrate on your breathing deffinitly ... it's not uncommon for the pressure made to take a couple of days to die down, thus if you consistantly do it wrong your going to have a hard time.

I dont think you should lower the intensity because intensity plays a key role in making gains, and I would hate to see you stop making gains and get frustrated and quit.

I like Lee J B's suggestion. Stay focused buddy.

Lee beat me too it...I used to have the same problem when I had bad breathing habits when I lifted. My ears would even plug up, like I just got off an airplane or something...

I agree with the breathing tips, also it depends too on how long you have been lifting for, generally if i work out for 12 weeks straight, i'll start to get fatigued like a head ache while lifting and take a week off and feel great coming back. The break could do ya some good with gains too, that's if you've been lifting for a long time consistently though. Hope this helps also.
