Hello Again - Found it

Hello again all,

How is everyone?

Been a while. We'll last time I was here I failed to do anything again. I finally went and got the book someone (goodgirl?) recommend "When working Out is Not Working out" It explains possible reasons for mentally/physically not working out or sticking to a fitness/lifestyle change. In reading the book something clicked about sleep apnea and how that can make you very tired and not being able to focus.

Well I went to see a Pulmonary Dr and went for a sleep study. Guess what, I have severe sleep apnea. I stop breathing 48 times an hour, my heart raceses more and more throughout the night and my O2 levels drop to 80%. This is not good at all. I have just started CPAP (forced air therapy) while I sleep. This should get me to sleep again and to get some rest.

In learning about sleep apnea it explains allot of things that I am going through. Depression, weight gain, tiredness and unclear thinking to name the big ones.

About 2 weeks on the treatment now and I am starting to get used to sleeping with a mask on my face all night I am starting to feel slightly better. I know this is a long long road but at least I can put a finger on what is causing my problems.

Dr also said that if I loose 50lbs he will send me for another test to see if I can get the air pressure lowered or maybe a "very slight" chance to come off of the machine. So their maybe light at the end of this tunnel.

Anyway, I will be starting to turn my life arround. I am goign to start with a basic 1800 calorie diet and start walking on the treadmill. As I am able to walk fast comfortably I will start jogging. I will add some weight lifting back into the mix shrotly but I will need energy to do that and its not here yet. Hopefully if a clean diet and some basic cardio can get some of the weight off and the sleep aid therapy can get things started in the right direction.

Regards,

Rob

Glad to see you decided to find out why you weren't successful. Congrats on finding out why. I have my fingers crossed that you can lose the 50 lbs. Good Luck.
