help!!!
Hey guys,
Right now I really need advice. I'm 18, 5'5 and about 125 lbs. The major problem I have with my body is....the dreaded "lovehandles"!! They're my worse nightmare, they're present and getting worse! If anyone has ANY advice as to how to make these things go away (exercise tips, etc) I would REALLY appreciate it! thank you!!!!

Welcome to DF Courtney!
Love handles are results from excess of body fat. The majority of losing body fat is with your diet. Can you give us an example of a typical day with your diet?
Also, what is your current routine?

Thanks!
Well...Usually I'll have cereal or a bagel for breakfast, a sandwich, wrap or salad for lunch, and dinner always varies. I also snack in between...I know it's probably not the best of diets.
I usually go 1/2 hour on the elliptical, then I'll do standard crunches, weight training, etc. I'm sort of clueless as to what I should be doing, actually...

like laura said, diet is key. hopefully you aren't drinking too mcuh and eating pizza every night like most people your age? also, do high intensity cardio. another thing you can do is cardio as early in the day as possible. cardio boosts the metabolism so take advantage of this through early excersize.

If you do exercise in the morning, make sure you do a good warm up routine though. Otherwise you might pull something... lol

Hey,
I think you should lay off some of the carbs maybe a little... and.. excercise!
You should run/job and burn those calories. Maintaining a healthy diet and doing consistent cardio routines will definitely provide results..

Good advice...yes, I need to lay off the carbs for sure. But pasta and rolls are sooo good ! I was thinking about starting a diet, though...any reccomendations?? I hear good and bad things about every one...Also, is there a specific exercise that can help to tone the lovehandles down??

Hey,
Im not a big fan of strict diet programs... but I think that eating less carbs and eating more protein is the way to go. Don't forget your fiber.
For the love handles.. there is no real specific excercise to get rid of those. You can do situps/crunches all you want, but unlike what most people will tell you on those infomercials that claim to produce abs of steel by using their products (products by the way that just accomplish basically what normal situps/crunches do), it won't help too much. You should do situps/crunches to tone your abdominal muscles and make them stronger so that when you do lose the fat you'll have that nice subtle 4 pack, but the only way to lose that fat is to be active. You must run/jog. Pulatis (that how you spell it?) is also a great excercise program that complements the benefits of running.

You're already on a diet. Everybody who eats is on a diet of some sort and always will be.
The only question is whether or not that diet is consistent with your health and fitness goals.

Sadly, no. The idea that specific exercises can target specific fat deposits is called spot reduction and the human body just plain doesn't work that way.
