Help "It Figures" participant

My friend and I have been going to It Figures ... a place where they have 9 hydraulic weight machines with aerobic pads in between each machine. You go around the circle, stopping at each spot for either 30 seconds or 40 seconds ... and you go around about 3 times for a 30 or 40 minute workout.

At first it worked and we lost 12 inches in about 2 months, but now, 11 months later, we are feeling no effects from the exercise and have not lost a thing in months. We don't see that anyone else is benefiting either ... everyone still looks the same :-) What are we doing wrong? I know that we need to increase the intensity of the workout, but how? Any ideas?

Thanks for any experience you've had with this fitness chain.

:-) Shelley

Your body has adapted to your current workout, changing it in some way, less rest, more weight, more sets, different order,
etc. will help you see results again.

But, it seems you are trying to lose weight and the biggest
factor for that is diet.

Best,

Paul

Welcome Stowens. Paul is right with his recommendations. Also, what is your diet looking like these days? Have you keep a journal for a few days to see what you are eating and when you are eating it? A change in diet may help you overcome your plateau too.

And people staying the same month after month is very common in most gyms. I suspect that a lot of that comes from people thinking they are going to the gym so they can keep up their bad eating habits. When I started running a few years ago that was the motivating reason for me.
