Help, terrible foot pain!
Hey, please help. I used to jog alot with the wrong type of shoes and after a while of jogging, during the night i would get up and walk and my right foot would really hurt. But i ignored it.
Later my right foot hurt bad during the run or just after and i started to worry.
I stopped jogging for about 10 weeks, got shoes MEANT for running, and started again. It took 2 days! for the pain to come back, and after my jog it stayed with me for the rest of the day, sometimes barley able to walk!
I got orthodics because the foot specilist thought that might help but nothing! the pain is stil there and its pissen the **** outa me! Anyone know of what it is or how it could be fixed? (im 14 btw). And it dont have to be jogging for it to go off, i can be doing any type of sport that involves running.
I have attached a picture, the larger the red dot is, the more pain there is. Its not the arc of my foot, its the bone or something in it, and cracking my foot doesn't help.
Please, its really realy really bugging me...thank you. Im desperate

first off, cracking your joints is a BAD idea - it overstresses the tendons and ligaments and can cause tendonitis or similar inflammatory conditions.
my guess is that you tend to run on the front of your feet and may have overstressed the small bones there. have you been to a running specialist? find one that can analyze your running form and get that checked, or just try landing square on your heel then rolling smoothly forward and spring off from your toes instead of skimming along on the front of your feet.

then you've got to give the orthotics time to work. take it easy on your feet. another idea would be to get a cushioning product from (for example) dr scholl's and cut a U-shaped piece so that it surrounds the sore area with the bottom of the U pointing toward your heel - see if that takes some of the stress off.
oh - does it hurt if you dig down on it with your thumb?

Did you get an xray done on your foot? Stress fractures can cause pain like that and are hard to detect. Sometimes an xray won't detect them. I'd bring that up with the doctor. A running friend of mine had a small stress fracture in her foot and it got missed so she was in pain a lot longer than she had to be!

A few years ago I had identical symptoms. A Podiatrist told me it was an inflammed nerve in the foot. He wanted to do surgery and cut the nerve, which would have left about half my foot numb for the rest of my life. I passed on the surgery. As my weight went up, the problem compounded with inflammation of the Plantar Fascia tendon (heel spurs). I started using inserts with a good arch support and just lived with it. Some days I had to use a cane. Since losing the weight, I have not had any foot problems in over a year.
You should go to another Podiatrist for a diagnosis & second opinion. You might have to give up running for a while and switch your cardio to something with lower impact on the foot such as cycling or an elliptical trainer. Surgery might be your only option for relief if the damage is severe enough.

It's best not to self-diagnose. See a doctor.

Definitely see a doctor. It's easy to diagnose yourself with certain conditions.

My wife has plantar fasciitis, which is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. Weight is a contributing factor to the pain, dropping weight relieves pressure on the tendons in the foot. Also, if you're at a job where you are standing or walking a lot throughout the day (my wife is a teacher, always on her feet) it can exasperate the problem. I would see a podiatrist.

Oh not at all..I just wanted to point out that being overweight doesn't help the condition. Also, perhaps you have stress fractures, that can also cause foot pain.
