Hemoglobin Levels
I am doing research on heat acclimation and wondered if there were any other participants who have a specific interest in increasing hemoglobin levels without the use of drugs? Would you be willing to share any information you may have?

Welcome to the board Bruce. I'm not sure that I really understand your question. What would increasing hemoglobin levels do to a person, and how would one go about it? What kind of info are you looking for?

One way of increasing your Hemaglobin levels, is to do some altitude training. This incourages your body has to produce more Hemoglobin to help the lack of oxygen at higher altitudes to be transported to your working muscles. Hope this was of some help!

one way i know is to eat 2 spoons of honey early in the morning this is an old methode but it work i have tried it

When I was in the Army, we had to do service in Namibia(very,very hot place!). On arrival we were told that if we want to get used to the heat quickly, we had to jog about 2km every day, e.i. get fit. Well, we did and after two weeks we could tolerate the heat better.

Steve you were in the army ? which one ? at 18 I am seriously considering joining the Royal Marines of the United Kingdom , dont know if you have already heard of them or not but i went for a physical and passed only just though, they told me i couldnt join up for official service until im 18 , so im training and studying at the moment

Well, back in 1981, military service(two years) was not an option for us South Africans - at least not for the whites. We all had to go! But it was cool, I enjoyed it through and through. The training was tough, of course. They were looking for truck drivers in Namibia and I signed up. Did a specialized training course, got my licence and was accepted.
A career in the Army is always good. Man, the Army looks after you! Lots of benefits. You can't go wrong. If I had had more sense when I was 20, I would have joined the Army permanently. That's for sure.

im already signed up and ready to go to the US air force and i am really hoping to make special forces. the dropout rate is just over 99 percent meaning less than 1 percent make it. im really trying to overcome my not being able to hold my breath very long for the intense water training that knocks most people out. what are some good things to do? i have been running a lot to try to enlarge my lungs and have been doing a lot of under water swimming. by that i mean swimming from one end of my pool to the other, nothing major right now but maybe when i get better.

Harry Houdini used to have to hold his breath for around 3 minutes to perform his stunts. The way he learned to do this was to just hold his breath for as long as he could, and over time built up to being able to hold it much longer than the average person. He used to challenge people to breath holding contests, and most people would have to stop after a minute and a half. Outrageous fella.
The point -- which has taken me awhile to get to -- is to just practice holding your breath when you have spare moments throughout the day.

ive got plenty of those spare moments...i might have to give it a try....what do i have to lose(well other than some brain cells from lack of O2 but who needs those pesky things)

Dont worry about the brain cells, the amount you will loose if you bang your head far outweighs the amount you lose whilst holding your breath ... so just make sure you dont hold your breath and then conk out .. because then yes you will bein for it hehehe
