Hmmmm Work Out Routine....

For the last 2 months I have been doing *LOTS* of things too try and get in better shape. I was in decent shape before from 3 seasons straight of rugby but have been forced too quit due to my knees and back getting from bad to worst. This has been really hard on me but I am looking for ways to overcome it and maybe build myself alittle more. The school will not sell me a workout pass for the gym there as it is to late in the year and well I don't have the money too go out and buy a good set of weights. So far my exercise plan since April has been running once a week with a friend for 2 kms, 30 pushups, 35 crunchies, and I cleaned up my diet(I eat a fairly large HEALTHY breakfast, smaller lunch, and more or less a slightly larger snack for supper with nothing else inbetween minus water). I do not want too gain weight but more or less just shave it off, I'm not looking to be overly built, however the rugby season has left me with alittle bit of umm a beer habit on the weekends(being from a city where theres the most alcohol per captia in Canada it's kinda hard not too go out and have a good time with your friends). My problem is that I'm not gaining OR losing weight(guess which way I wanna go)....

Also I was at my younger sisters karate practise last weekend and I watched some kick boxers warm up, they did really different push ups then what I have ever seen, they had their arms tucked in to their sides in sort of L shapes to the ground(if you can imagine that)instead of out to the side like I usually have them. I have tried doing them once since and they are extremely difficult-I was wondering if any of you had some sort of tips on arm positions while doing pushups as too make it so you don't hurt yourself but you get good results.

Thanks in advance.

*Edit*Forgot to add-I do the 30 pushups 3 times a day(once in the morning then once before and after the 35 crunchies)and the 35 crunchies in the evening.

Congratulations on your resolve to get things back under control, Flip.

To make a serious effort at getting in shape, consider the following:

² Develop a nutrition plan that includes 5 to 6 meals a day to maintain an even metabolism.
² Adopt a program of regular resistance training (weight, bands, or some other format) for proper muscle development.
² Balance the the above two features for optimal growth and rewarding fat-loss.
