How much quicker can you run on a treadmill??

Hey everyone. I've been running at the gym now for about 2months...and i can manage to run 1600m in 3:29, how does this compare to running the same distance on a track?? do you think i'll be that much slower?? really need some feedback! :

Congratulations, you're the world's fastest person!! And after only 2 months training, you are truly gifted. Allow me to take this opportunity to welcome you to discussfitness.com but also to warn you not to waste people's time :

I think, as 2scoops is trying to say, that your math is a bit off. I highly doubt you are running 1,600 meters in 3:29 since the men's relay team record (4 runners) is around 3:10, I believe.

If you are running that fast, there isn't a treadmill in the world with fast enough settings for you.

But as a general rule, I think most people run faster on a track than on a treadmill. That's definitely true for me.

True, but usually just because people choose not to run very fast speeds on the treadmill (for obvious reasons).

The energy cost of running on a treadmill (with 0% incline) would be slightly less than track or outdoor running but that doesn't necessarily translate to faster/slower speeds.

For me, running on a track is MUCH more difficult than a treadmill...

Running outdoors is a lot more difficult than running on a treadmill. It takes a while for your muscles to get use to outdoor, or track running because you tend to use different muscles in addition to the normal ones. (i.e. when you turn corners etc.)
