how much running is cardio?


i was just wondering what exactly is cosidered cardio? how much running does it take to start hurting the muscles size? just wondering because i am about to be going into the service and would like to be able to run as much as possible but still be able to pack on muscle.

Given your goal, you'll want to "sprint in spurts." run at high-intensity for short distances—short, light jogging in between. Also consider high-speed agility maneuvers.

so some 40s with actice recovery and some shuttle run would be best?
