Question

How to target that Paunch

Hey all,

I recently got an ab cruncher to strengthen my ab muscles and its working well on my upper 4 of my imaginary 6 pack yet I dont feel much strain on my lower 2 where I'm aquiring a bit of a belly. I don't like doing regular sit ups because I feel the strain on my back rather than my abs. I've tried it with my knees up and stuff but I can't seem to target that paunch! Any suggestions, exercises?

Thanks

Those imaginary lower abs are made in the kitchen not the exercise room. You have to lower your overall bodyfat to see them - men <10%, women <14%.

What does your diet look like?

If you have access to a system of weights, you'll benefit greatly from a regular plan of lifting. Burn off some of that fat, and replace it with some quality-sculpted muscle. :

The lower 2 (and the two below that) are used to raise your legs, rather than your spine.

Thanks for the info,

My diet I'm sure lacks some elements, usually consists of porridge in the morning. A ham sandwich for lunch with chicken or pasta for dinner with a bannana and yoghurt thrown in somewhere between! I try and work out everyday and go to the gym atleast twice a week but only joined a month ago. Time to get those sculpted muscles! :

Try throwing in some leg raises as well as the usual abdominal crunches.

Plus through in some back extensions. Most people neglect it and later on in life it reminds them.

Weighted hip raises will probably benefit you more than the generic leg raise unless you're looking to get some really strong hip flexors instead of working your abs.
