Running, sprinting, burpees, any of the www.crossfit.com workouts.

More running, more sprinting, more burpees, etc., etc.

Blowing up balloons. No really, those little tight ones like water balloons that are really difficult to inflate. They will open the alveoli more and over time increase your lung capacity or at least efficiency.

Great Gama Squats are what I think pierini calls them. After all we don't call preacher curls, baptist curls or catholic curls now do we?

Are regular squats WASP squats?

Eh, dont be scared of Hinduism . Technically Hinduism is not a religion per se. A person can be an atheist and still be a Hindu. A Hindu is a person from the areas surrounding the Indus river(around 3000km long). The British who ruled India didnt know what to put in the religion box for them, so they termed Hinduism as a religion.

So a hindu squat is saying "squats from india" and that is quite an accurate description.
The great Gama was a famous wrestler from India. So gamma squats would be like saying Arnold curls. Wait, I think there is something called an arnold curl

Justice, that link does not explain how to perform that particular exercise. Does anyone have a link that does?

arbit, you are thinking of Scott curls - they are Preacher curls but the Weider mags renamed them after Larry Scott, the first Mr Olympia.

Arbit you are funny! (WASP is a collective term too. )

Pierini probably knows a link to the correct way to do these.

My apologies if this sounds too critical, but when someone asks for fitness advice, wouldn't it be helpful if they include their fitness objective in addition to their current fitness level?

Maxgain is looking for advice on how to increase lung capacity, but he doesn't mention why, nor does he mention his current lung capacity. For example, if he wants to improve his lung capacity for running a 5K (fitness objective) because he can barely run around the block (fitness level), then we could focus our advice on how to train for a 5K run.

I am grateful for what I've learned from those who post on these forums, but it takes a lot of time to weed through all the posts. If the questions posted were more informative, the responses would be more on target, the threads would be shorter, and we would all have more time for living life outside the forums.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I think you may be a little too critical, but I agree that knowing what Maxgain means by increasing lung capacity would be helpful. Unfortunately, it isn't always easy to fully explain yourself in a forum post. Sometimes you just can't find the right words, and sometimes, you don't even know what to ask.

If someone is really interested in increasing lung capacity, I'd check out tips from freedivers. Their sport (and their lives) depend on it. Here is a quick link http://www.bluewaterhunter.com/educa...tion_lung.html

Sometimes I feel that way Weston but then other times I get bored with message boards because they become too dry , technical, competitive or impersonal.

Max-y I am trying to find a link to a fitness training centre that I once saw. it sold a device specifically aimed to just that, increasing lung capacity for aerobic perfomance and VO2 max.

I dont have a fitness reason to improve my lung capacity. All i know is my lung capacity is that below the norm, not enough to warrant further investiagtions besides obvious asthma etc which i dont have but enough to annoy me as i know it can hinder my training and overall wellbeing.

Brat that device sounds great if you can find it
