Injury concerns

Greetings!

I've been out of action for almost a month now following a nasty viral infection and a couple of bruised ribs. I wouldn't say that I am a beginner but I am little worried about getting back in the gym as I feel like I've lost a bit of my fitness. My diet has been terrible the last few weeks so it's almost as if I'm back to square number one.

Any advice on how to get back to working out after a period out through injury?

Thanks in advance.

Slow and steady. I know the impulse is to go right back to where you were but that will probably lead to another injury. Start at a lighter intensity (lighter weights reps etc.) and then add on every week so as not to re-injure or get a new injury.
