very interesting question...(well, from my point)

Hello everyone

A friend of mines is a very tall, kind of slim dude, with NATURALLY NARROW shoulders.....i mean, he pretty much looks like a stick with a head, opposed to how some people are born with wide shoulders already, and are big boned etc.....his dad and grandfather have the same type of shoulders.....they are just small lil shoulders (width and length wise) that kind of make his head look big.....
anyways, hes a very nice guy who is obviously torn by all of this since hes now 20 and thinks nature wont widen him up anymore
and
because he does not believe that he will get results he wants if he starts working out....when i mean by results, i mean:

is it possible for a naturally narrow shouldered person to workout and get wide shoulders to any extent? like when working the SHOULDERS and BACK- is it possible for him to get them to extend more parallel..
anyways, i myself, am working out and i see that the shoulders get more fuller and thicker and that the back sort of expands- making a V shape body....thus, widening but not as much to say that the grow out parallel...and make someone see a difference when wearing clothing....

im just very curious for my friend who is naturally like that.....and if he must work on his back or shoulders more???....as i know the back is what makes u wider and the shoulders make u thicker (as i experience)...hes a pretty tall guy so it makes it harder for him i guess.....im 6'4 and hes 6'6.....

i dont know if this is a stupid question, but i just wanna see how this will be answered, its interestin....im also interested to find out...i think he would want to be more wide, rather than thick.....but sayin no to working out cuz he doesnt think itll make a huge difference to his shoulders when he goes out- is ridiculous.....but also understandable when he doesnt know for sure......
genetics suck...for some.......

i can answer any question to my friend about any muscle, based on from what i already know, but this one hmmmm.......

some tall people are born skinny, (slim) but CUT with WIDE shoulders....some are born with narrow shoulders......obviously the wide shouldered dude will look better....
no?

thx, w/b plzzzz

HAPPY NEW YEAR BY THE WAY!!!

Yep you could expect to make them wider, (to an extent) don't expect a massive widening but they will progressively get wider with work.

by keeping his waistline slim and working on his delts and lats extra hard while still working the restof his body yes he can widen his shoulders to a degree

Skeletal structure in an adult won't change, but with work the delts and lats can be improved IMMENSELY with weight training (and diet). Big traps complete the look.

Wink

I recommend him to start swimming...(breast-stroke) it really helps broaden the shoulders...

Cheers

PS: It's great to be back guys! (if you remember me?)

(Intro of Pharoah Monch's "Simon Says" plays)

Yes, I just got to say it...Jason Statham was a Diving champion and swimming really can build your upper body. You can't really build wider shoulders since that depends on your skeletal structure, but if you build shoulder muscles it actually makes your shoulders look wider. Oh god, now I mention Jason Statham and I'm going to wait for the onslaught of flames and insults.

unneccesary comment about steroids bro... altered physiques come with hard work, with or without steroids. yesi believe he could notice tremendous difference in his overallshape if he give it enough time.

You can make a big difference with adding some muscle to a skinny frame. In fact if he is THAT skinny it will be even more noticeable than on someone with a wider frame, because there is less area for the muscle to by spread out.
