I don't know how to explain it, but when I do jogging/running intervals, I can feel the difference in my stride. The running stride feels longer, smoother.

I think of it in terms of percieved exertion, or maybe look at my heart rate. A persons level of fitness also plays a part. Someone very out of shape will find a 10min mile pace extremly challenging.. so then for them it will feel like 'running'.

I consider 10min mile pace as a 'jog' as HR will stay at about 120-130 (unless there are hills of course). The percieved exertion is low: I could probably keep this up for a long time, if I didnt fall asleep first.

When I am 'running' my HR will usually be 160 or more. Right now, since i am not in great running shape, a pace of 9minute miles would probably get me here.

I havent worn my monitor for sprints yet, but i suspect 180 or more, and maintainable for only short bursts.

According to that army site i need to do the 2miles in 15:36 for 100 points. I don't think i could do that right now, but I will work on it!

I am a healthy 24 year old male, and I mainly stick to weights when at the gym. Whenever I do cardio, I mainly shoot for 10 minutes on the treadmill as a warmup then go on to bike etc...

What SHOULD be my time for lets say a 2 mile run and what should be my time for a 2 mile jog??

thanks!
in a few weeks ull be able to do a mile in 8 mins

right now i run 3 miles in like 23 minutes +-
