Question

Measuring with Skin Calipers

Ok, Thanks to Cursor for showing me the FatTrack II Digital Body Fat Caliper. I do have a question. When you measure your 3 parts, when i place the caliper on my skin, do i measure it tight or until the caliper touches the skin? I took 3 readings and 2 were identical and the 3rd was 2 about 2% off. I did it the way the instruction saud, but it did not say how tight the caliper was supposed to be to the skin.

Thanks

I've got the same calipers. I usually take 3 readings and then take an average. It's never going to be exact, but as long as you do it the same every time you will get consistant average readings. For me as long as they keep going down I figure I must be doing something right.

Mine beeps when it is tight enough. It doesn't feel like it's pinching or anything. So I guess just so that it is touching but not denting the skin. At least for my calipers.

Depends on the calipers. Mine only beep to signal it got a reading AFTER I've pushed the button to take the reading, regardless of how hard or soft I'm pinching. If you're pinching it with the calipers, you're doing it wrong. Pinch it with your fingers, and measure the diameter of that fold accurately.
