I also think a lot of women use the "I don't want to get bulky" as an excuse to be lazy. Although I think lifting is easier and more fun than running on a BORING treadmill for an hour. Also, when you go to the gym it's usually the women on the treadmill, the men in the weight room. The women feel intimidated to just go in there and get lifting. They either don't know how and are embarassed to ask or they don't want to look "stupid".

More women need to weight train

I am always surprised that more women don't work out in the weight room. After having a spinal injury and being in a brace for six months and physio for a year my spinal specialist suggested I do weight training. I was 55 at the time. I am now 67 and still working out in the gym. I really enjoy lifting, and although I don't go really heavy I feel great, and look much better than most of my contemporaries. There is nothing better to see than a man or woman in good shape. I always encourage the women I know to come to the weight room.:) :) :p

I saw the most adorable lady in the gym the other day. She couldn't have been more than 5' tall and I would be shocked if she was 100lbs soaking wet. If I had to guess her age (which I'm horrible at) I would say that she was about 60ish? Looking at her, she looked like this frail sweet old lady, but I'll tell you what, that woman could out crunch me any day. It was awesome to watch her lift weights right next to Mr. Joe Testosterone with her 5lb dumbbells and her pink workout suit. She was so Ms. Olympia, obviously, but she was there, working out and I totally admired her for it. It made me go that much harder and quit my whining .

I believe everything in life needs to be in balance. That also applies to the human physique. Few things are less attractive than a neglected body. Woman always use the ''I am gonna get too big'' excuse not to do weights. But why?

Can they not see that if they do it in balance, if they keep all in proportion (& stay clear from the roids) they might just find the form they have always longed for? All but one of my lady friends are unhappy with the way they look. The one who doesn't feel unhappy is the only one who does weights. She's not big, just well toned.

Weight training is like sculpturing. You take away what you do not like and put on what you think you need...and YOU are the artist.

No kidding. Because it's so much better to get "big" and fat right? I hate it when I hear that excuse. I would rather hear "I'm just too dern lazy." than "I don't wanna get big."

Thanks! I did my first NPC Figure comp! I was scared __itless!! For a lot of reasons, because I was not coming in at my best, but I had to do it anyway. I was paralyzed and was freakin' and wasn't following my competition diet. But I did it anyway, and I am glad I did.

Now, I owe it to myself to do another, and I will eventually switch to bodybuilding. The real reason I didn't go for body building in the first place was
A. I didn't want to have to get to 9% bf or less
B. Posing is hard work and I don't know what the heck I am doing!

So I think Figure was a good way to get my feet wet!
But lordy lordy, for a first comp with gals in LA that do modeling? I was so out of my league!

But as it turned out, the gals were all awesome! I just would not turn away from them until I got a smile back, and that makes everyone feel better.

And guess who took overall in Figure? The two ladies that took Masters! As in over 35!
