I was just wondering is riding a mountain bike comparable to running, cause I just bought a really nice mountain bike and plan on riding a couple hours every other day, And alot of people I know said they lost ALOT of weight running a couple miles everyday......well ya thats nice but I HATE running! so what do you guys/gals think about biking compared to running? and can I lose some weight riding a bike everyday?

It all depends on how hard your working! Not the bike itself but you . . .You need to be aware of where your heart rate is at and make sure you keep it elevated but assuming the fafore mentioned itmes you should be in good shape to lose some weight

Cheers

Mountain Biking can be a great workout if you hit some hilly trails. Just cruising on a flat street or flat doubletrack trail along some train tracks will be a nice ride, but not much in terms of high-intensity.

Hit the hills and you'll feel it. Have fun, and wear a helmet!!! I wouldn't have the left side of my head were it not for a helmet.

Now you're talking! The bike is my favorite cardio by far. You can lose just as much fat with the mountain bike as you can running if the effort level is there. Keep the rpms up-try for 85-90 per minute. That will help keep the intensity and moderate the pressure on the knees.

Of course if you're lucky like me and have a nice treadmill that absorbs the shock when you run and is in doors with air conditioning lol. Anyways, i have never really biked for exercise i always had a schwin that i just rode for fun and tricks but never thought of it as cardio.

I have a mountain bike and go out every other day. I also like to get out and run tho. I find biking is just as good as running. Altho there are days that I would rather run.
