Unhappy

My elbow clicks during press-ups?!

When I do press-ups (the proper kind, not the lady ones!), my left elbow makes funny clicky sounds? Sometimes it is worst than other times but it always happens. Does this happen to anyone else? Does anyone know the cause?

Do you get pain with it, or just noise? If you get pain, stop and see a doctor. I used to get that in my ankles all the time but the more I have worked out the noise has pretty much stopped.

i think the cause might be lack of fluid in that joint. You might need to worm up the area first.

the cracking sounds during activity can many times be attributed to muscle spasms, in other words you dont stretch enough and the muscle tenses up too much. this happened to my psoas muscle, i basically stopped stretching for like 2 years and always had the cracking sound wheni would lift my leg. i went to a chiropractor and he gave me stretches and the sound was gone instantly.
so stretch, its the best method of injury prevention.

I used to get that on my bench press and incline when I first started lifting. It went away after a while though. I always attributed it to my really weak arms that could barely put up a 45 lb bar and the fact that my stabilizer muscles were non-existant
