Neat Tool for Measuring Running Routes

Gmaps Pedometer http://www.gmap-pedometer.com is a neat online tool for those runners in this forum who want to calculate the distance of their running routes.

For instructions on how to use, click the link on the left margin entitled Usage Instructions. I run around my apartment complex, which is not listed on a Google map. However, by clicking on the Satellite button, I got a satellite photo of my complex and was able to measure my running route on it.

Thanks for the link! It is very cool. :

The Running Room stores here have routes that are measured by GPS which they share with anyone, but I've not seen anything which lets you define your own route like this one does.

pretty neat. Some of the places I run are on the map. I tried to figure out my new biking route though and all the roads are in the wrong places.

Here's another online tool for mapping and measuring running routes offered by USA Track & Field http://www.usatf.org/routes

The neat feature about this tool is its database of routes saved by other users. You can use it to look for new routes in your area, for routes when you're traveling, or for routes where you can meet other runners.
