New personal best, but ...

Yeah I ran 6 miles in just under 50 min tonight. I know it's no land speed record, but it's the fact that I did something that I have never thought that I would ever be able to do. But, as I sit here typing, I still feel like I have over eatin and basically made my work out useless. Since I ran tonight, I had a tuna salad with 2 apples and a protien drink. Then just a couple min ago I had another apple. It seems like everytime I think that I do something good, I end up ruining the results and setting myself back.

Oh NO! SHAME! You ate like 500-600 calories (probably less) after a 6 mile run where you probably burned over 800-1000, its the end of the world!!!!!

Note the sarcasm. Great work, and don't sweat the food. You actually don't seem to have eaten enough.

I concur - had the PB been an excuse to eat a whole rake of ice cream (or similar), then shame on you - however as Cort suggests, you could well not be getting enough, so dont worry about it

wb, you really oughta get a grip.

if you were "confessing" to have eaten a whole apple pie (WITH whipped cream) or something, then i would be all commiserative and supportive.

but you keep beating yourself about the head for everything that passes your lips. that kind of behaviour isn't praiseworthy - it's like complaining about every drop of gas you put in an empty tank.

either that, or you're demonstrating an excessive form of false modesty - the same type of behaviour that has a woman saying "oh, this old thing? it's just something i threw together" when complimented on an outfit she's designed and sewn herself. it's irritating and it's rude to the one giving the compliment, even when the complimenter is oneself. it also pretty much locks out anyone wanting to say "way to go!".

like i said before: when you do something noteworthy, PRAISE YOURSELF! sprain your shoulder patting yourself on the back and then start working out how to go one better.

with such a negative attitude, you're dooming yourself to failure.

6 miles in 50 minutes is great! What you ate is in no way over eating, so don't beat yourself up about it. In fact you're probably still hungry!

Unhappy

threenorns- I see what your saying, and I apoligize. I guess part of me is getting very frustrated. I have been lifting for close to 2 months with little improvement.I have seen some, but not much. I thought by upping my cardio would help lose the b/f and I don't think that it has helped either. Not seeing results quickly is also hurting my self confidence. As you can tell in my previous posts, I have no self confidence/esteem. I never have had it.I keep trying to work out and eat properly and I just getting more and more frustrated that I am not seeing results.Heck, I stepped on the scale this morning(I know throw the scale away) expecting to see my wieght down, the needle didn't budge. That makes me ticked off, and in my mind, supports my thoughts that I am eating to much. I have said several time to myself that it's not working so why continue. For some reason, I still keep going to the gym and keep pushing myself when I am running.Between not seeing results and getting info from so many different sources, it is confusing and stressing my out. The working out/eating healthy/dieting thing is almost gotten to the point where it is what is on my mind 95% of the time. It's almost taken over my life.Sometimes I think I have problems in my head, but thats a completely different story.

I do greatly apprecaite the support and congratulations.

William

JUST STOP ANALYZING THIS! Relax :

Patience, Danielson *in Mr Miage voice* Patience. You are expecting a difference too quickly - it takes time. I did not SEE any difference for 8-12 weeks when I started my transition, although, my clothes were telling me it was working.

exactly the same with me: i took a picture when i started, i took another six weeks later, and saw absolutely no difference, even though i have only two pairs of pants i can wear any more because i don't have to undo the waist to step in and out of the rest. i can now fit my training partner's clothing.

i keep going because i KNOW it's working, and so should you. this isn't something you're going to do until you're thin and then "phew! thank goodness i can get back to my *real* life" - this IS your life!

okay, so you're obsessed - turn it into a positive. think positively about the food you're eating: it's clean, it's nutritious, and all those little aminos are scuttling their way to your tired, damaged muscles to fix them and make them stronger, better, faster (they have the technology).

you want obsessed? bill and i LIVE bodybuilding. we buy bodybuilding magazines. we buy bodybuilding books. we buy bodybuilding videos. we go through nearly $200 a week in groceries - you know those "family pack" trays of meat? that's one meal for the two of us. granted, i'll have two pieces of chicken and he had the rest, but still.

if i ever get around to looking for a job, it will be on the understanding that i cannot work between noon and six pm because that's my workout/dinner/nap time.

THAT is obsession, my friend, lol!

you MUST begin to retrain your brain. it's your brain - no one else's. YOU decide what goes on in it. YOU decide if the messages are going to be positive or negative - and your brain will act accordingly.

there is no reason for you to be such a down on yourself. you're not adolph hitler or some sociopathological freak, so accept the fact that you're digging yourself out of a hole, grab your shovel, and DIG!

Definitely stop analyzing as much as you can! I find the more I analyze the less I eat which = BAD BAD BAD! The less I eat the less I lose, if I'm trying to lose a few pounds! Also, as was said the scale is your enemy. I'm 5'3, and was weighed at a doctor's appointment March 7th - I weighed in at 152lbs. 6 weeks later a trainer in my gym asked me how much I weighed, didn't believe me and weighed me again. I weigh 150lbs, and I know I've "lost weight" - my clothes fit better, and I feel "lighter" etc. If you can relax, and enjoy your workouts you'll probably see results more quickly!

I'm trying real hard not to think about it as much, but I still think to myself, do I really need this food I eat every time. I do have a question for you again. Today I wasn't able to get to the gym and lift like I hoped. I plan on running like norma on Saturday. Should I cut back on eating today, beacuse I have not used as much energy, or go about eating as normal. Also, it seems like when I am at work, my legs specifically from the knee up, always feel dead and weak. Could I be over doing it with not enough rest. I lift on mon, wed, fri and run tues, thur, sat.

This whole thing is hard and confusing. I give a big : to all of you that have it figured out.

Hehe, my whole body is usually pretty beat unless I'm coming up on my next workout day for the specified muscle group. It doesn't necessarily mean you are overtraining though. However, if your lifts are decreasing or stuck that could be the culprit.

you'll weigh slightly less and you'll be a LOT weaker and get exhausted more easily.

Could this explain why my legs are always feeling weak?

if you're not eating enough, and/or if you're dehydrated, and/or if you're overtraining, that's pretty much guaranteed.
