I started a workout journal if you want to take a gander at that...
Basically, I am starting off pretty small since I am just starting. I like using the flat barbell and free weights. I have used free weights and the machines before just not consistanctly enough to see results.
Cardio: I like to ride my bike, eliptical and row. I started walking and soon hope to be running, but I am NOT a huge fan of running so I definitaly have to work my way up to that. I know it sounds ridiculous but I feel as if I can get enough stamina to actually want to run it might be a little easier on me...
Also...I wanted you guys to critique my eating habits but don't know how to post the site ??

Sorry, I haven't used the food journals, so I don't know how to make a link, but several of our members do, so hopefully one of them will chime in.
Sorry I'm not more help!

Starting off small is good. If you really don't like running, you don't HAVE to do it. You can choose other activities that you prefer. But you are also right that as you get into shape, running will be easier for you.

Talia, you have improved A LOT! You are definitely on the right track. Just watch out for those breakfast cereals, most have a lot of sugar. You might want to consider instant oatmeal (look for low sugar oatmeal) as an alternative. But you are doing sooooooo much better! Way to go!

Thank you!!!! It makes a huge difference when others let you know how you are doing. I appreciate it so much! I really have been trying! It's hard to say no to that 6th beer or Mike's hard lemonade, but I know I really want this and I WILL get it!!!
I think I am going to try eating some oatmeal in the morning instead of cereal and eggs, I fear I am eating too many eggs (my mother says they are high in cholesterol which I know, but never relly thought about- sorry mom)
Our cabinet withholds quacker oats oatmeal crunch mixed berry with cluster packets and maple brown sugar with cluster packets, are these okay to start? and then when I eat these I'll tell mom to get the low sugar ones..muahah
again though, thanks so much! I can honestly say that YOU GUYS are the ones that have helped me improve and pinpointed what I should and shouldn't be doing

Good to see you sticking with this and I mean returning here everyday and taking/asking for feedback. You got some big habits to turn around. It's good to see it happening. Keep using us !
Eggs are fine if your cholesterol levels are in good shape.I get mine checked annually. If you are concerned the stick to one egg and however many egg whites you like. I am a fiend for scrambled eggs. I don't know how they differ nutritionally from fried , but they never pose an excess calorie problem for me and I rarely have the urge to eat bread or toast with them. Sometimes I'll do home made egg mcmuffins with them.

You are still building the habit. It will get easier, I promise. Once your habits begin to change, you will be amazed at how much you won't even want some of the foods you used to eat. Keep it up, it gets better!

I took that same police written and physical exam for my city in California. And I dwelt with the same preocupations. I did not stress much on the written knowing that I'm good in english when its needed for correction. Also, the written is reading and multiple choice. I just had mine like 2 weeks ago. We do the same physical exam; 25 push-ups in 35 seconds, 35 sit-ups in 45 seconds, 1.5 mile run in less then 14.55 min, and drag a 160lb dummy.I ran the 1.5 mile in 13.45min. I passes the dummy drag, push-ups, and on my second try, I passed the sit ups. What I did to train, was crunches, crunches, crunches to built stomach muscle for about 2 weeks straight. Then I rested for a week and ate salad and protein. Then I started old fashion sit ups. At my exam, everyone was jerking the sit ups and they were counted for.For Push-Ups! I am really weak on this. I did bench press(35lbs on each side). Then after, I did Dumbell shoulder press(35 lbs-40lbs on each side). Then, I work on my tricepts. Over the head tricept lift with dumbell(40lbs). I kept doing this for 2 weeks. When I did my exam, instead of 25(requirement) I did 26.I just got a call 2 days ago and I passed both written and physical, now its the last exam, Oral Exam. I hope I pass that too. If I do, I'm off to the Academy in October. Good luck to you in January!

Thank you so much and congratulations to you!! This is something I really, really want and I have been working so hard to get it! Well..I just started working hard to get it and I am doing slow progress, but 6 months from now I know, I hope, I will look at feel totally different. I am having trouble with running. I'm not a runner and when I take it to the track I get widned really easy which is frustrating because I have been so active. I do push up's here and there and crunches too, I guess I should be focusing more on those...thanks again for the advice and I hope you get in!!!!!!!!
