Pull Ups
I need to work on my pull ups and fast. Are there any free weight workouts that I can do to increase my count?

I never found any way to improve my pullup performance other than by doing them over and over.
Why you ask? Are you joining the Marines?

Yeah, if you classify "bodyweight" as a "free weight." Do pullups to get better at pullups. If you can't do pullups, try assistesd pullups with bench or chair under your feet. You can also try rack chins.

IF you can do them at all, start adding weight and do sets of 4-6 or a 5x5 pullup routine. This will make you much stronger and then when you want to hit them with bodyweight only, they will be EASY.
I couldn't do a single pullup. Worked my way up to 5x5 with my 203lb body weight+55-65 extra pounds chained around my waist. After that bodyweight pullups were so easy to do.
Now though...I can't do a single one. And I have no lats anymore either.

Lat pulldowns are the only thing I can think of that's close to a pullup.

pull ups is a great exercise. great for upper back i think ... i used to do it everyday ...if you want to increase your reps . here is what i think you should do
*buy yourself your own pull up bar .. doesnt cost but like 20 bucks ... totally worth it
whenever you find yourself walking under the bar .. just do a few reps .. like 1 or 2 .. soon you will find yourself doing 15-20 .
this is what i did . the most i ever reached was 30 .

Rocky, I'm going to take your advice. I got the bar and every time I walk under it, I'm going to lift myself up at least twice. I'll let you know how it goes.

let me know how it goes ..... before i could barely even lift myself up or hang on it but for a few seconds ..... but soon your body gets used to the weight ..
do chin ups too .. i find chin ups much easier than pullups .... its all good..

Hey Rock, that is how I did it as well. I put a pull up bar in the door frame leading from the dining room into the kitchen. Every time I enter the kitchen, I bang out some pull ups. After a while it becomes a habitual part of your daily activity. At the moment I can do a set of 12... I am looking forward to when I can get through 15-20.

I do not mean that I do 12 every time I enter the kitchen...lol
I do 5-8 (nice and slow from a dead hang).
Then occasionally I max out and see if I have made any progress.
Just wanted to clarify.
