slanted crunches

hey,

i've never been that adament about working out, but i recently started doing some basic stuff like push ups, crunches, and running.

i used to only care about looks, but i realized that even though i have a six pack, my stomach strength is pretty pathetic and fatty. my muscles look developed but i can only do around 20-25 push ups before i have to give up.

anyways, i noticed when i do crunches or sit ups without my shirt on, my stomach will have a red line form after 10 or so crunches. when i look at the line and how my stomach looks when it's being "crunched" it looks VERY slanted. i am absolutely positive i am coming up from the ground and doing the crunch completely straight. my legs are straight and my head and shoulders are straight. why is my stomach crunching slanted? if i crunch extremely to my left side, my stomach will look like it's crunching normally.

is this something to worry about?

thanks.
