Sleep VS Wieght gain

Hey all. How much does not sleeping properly effect wieght gain, if at all? The reason I ask this is since I've started working second shift, my sleep has gone to hell and my wieght has slowly crept up. I know that some of it is muscle, but some is also fat. I can still wear the same waist jeans that I have been, only difference is that I have had to get a more relaxed fit because of my legs. I really don't eat alot but maybe I'm wrong. Usually a bowl or two of cereal with skim milk for breakfast or after work out and then I might have a hand full of peanuts at work(usually only do that once or twice a week) For dinner is usually more cereal or bowl of soup or something like that. I also like to have a spoonful or two of peanut butter if we have any in the house. Dinner is usually at midnight and then I fall asleep anywhere from 1 to 4 in the morning and am getting a couple hours of sleep. Any help or suggestions?

By not eating enough quality meals throughout the day, along with not much sleep, you are most likely slowing your metabolism down. And in a worst case scenario, you are perhaps losing muscle and gaining fat... which only slows the metabolism even more...thus, the majority of your noticed weight gain.
