Couldn't say. It depends on the cause of your muscle spasms. Often, just stretching the spasm out will be enough to get you ready to work out. Also a proper warmup with light weights, slightly heavier weights, then heavier weights before getting into the heavy working sets may help.

This works for me - I have muscle spasms unrelated to training. Mine are neurogenic - messed up CNS. If the stretching and warmups don't help, I just have to skip the workout. When they get bad enough, I go on baclofen for a while - that's a mild centrally acting muscle relaxer which is effective for spactisity for folks with CNS conditions. I'm supposed to take it every day and the doc gets mad when I don't, but I actually just end up taking it for a week or two maybe 3 times a year.

If the spasms don't resolve - see a doc and find the cause of them.

Is it just a muscle fiber that is twitching and won't stop, or is it a SPASM? (Like, "look out, my arm is spasming and I might accidently whack you.") If it's the first it's just annoying and will eventually go away. I get these sometimes and it drives me crazy, but it does eventually quit. Go work out and don't worry about it. Maybe take a multivitamin. If it's the second, go see a doctor (and try not to whack him).

yeah it's stopped now, the only thing that got me intrigued was that it continued over night and throughout the next day, but all is good now!
