Yah I would say any type of quick weight gain in an area where the skin does not have time to expand flowingly with the fast gain....whether it be from fat or muscle.

Yes, those are the two most common causes for stretch marks (rapid weight gain/rapid muscle gain), but it can also happen because your body isn't supplying enough elatin, and your skin starts to break apart.

There is a GREAT skin care removal system you can buy at this website:

Yes. It helps stretch marks and helps remove cellulite. I got it recently because I got some stretch marks on my arms (after I started getting into fitness and such, my arms -- biceps in particular -- started getting much bigger w/ muscle, thus I got some stretch marks) and the kit thing you get comes with a manual on how to do the treatment, and the creams/stuff you need. All for 35 bucks. I've only done the treatment three times and I'm seeing very remarkable results already...

What exactly is the treatment, and how much will it help with loose skin, it's cheaper than yohimburn so i might go with it.

It's just a bunch of creams that you apply, and you use this special sponge to get it all in. It tightens the skin, makes it really smooth (like a baby's butt), and makes the stretch marks go away. I do it about twice a week, and it takes about a half hour to an hour to do it each time...it's working extremely fast, though.

Do you know how much it tightens the skin? Will it do it a lot?

You cannot tighten skin that has been seriously stretched out. Think of a rubber band,...the longer it's held in a stretched out position, or if it keeps getting stretched and released (weight loss and gain, regardless of the cause),...even when it "shrinks back" it will never have the elasticity it once did.

The network breaks down and other than superficial changes which can affect the appearance, perhaps smooth out the outermost layers of the dermis,.... you cannot technically shrink back skin that has been greatly expanded. It diminishes, and it can be altered in appearance, but short of surgical intervention (such as tucks),....the results are cosmetic.

Woops, PS: Yes, stretch marks, -- which are visual representations of the fissures that occur when the skin is torn, which is what happens, -- can occur with any kind of gain, whether it's from pregnancy, fat, muscle, implants, tumors,...(I'm trying to cover all the possible options here)....

Hmm so you reckon it works Gregc. Anyone else given it a go?

Your explanation makes a lot of sense Merrida but the skin is a living rubber band so it may not be that simple.

I disagree with this commonly used analogy regarding the ballon/rubberband and skin. A ballon/rubberband is a non-living object made of a non-living substance, thus it is true that a ballon cannot be returned to it's normal state once it has been stretched. However, skin is completely different. Skin is a living organ comprised of cells and much more that are completely capable of healing themselves on it's own or with the help of other things. If you take a knife and slice a hole in a balloon, it will not heal itself and repair the hole. However, if you slice your skin, your skin will repair the slice. You will not live forever with a gaping hole in your skin.

Stretch marks are repairable, I believe. The problem is we do not know a lot about them and thus do not know a lot on how to repair them. However, lately, creams have been coming out, Strivectin, for example, that are proven not only to fade the mark, but to actually repair it as well, by reducing the length and depth. There are several other creams that are similiar that promise the same thing. The catch is they are expensive, but probably well worth it.

Some of the better products to use are ...

Strivectin (sp?)
Stretch Mark Cure.Com
Jimi-Gel (www.Jimi-gel.com) --> This is the least expensive and is VERY promising. A 100% money back guarantee if you see no results, even if you have used the whole bottle, as well as a 95% success rate.

A natural product that works great is Shea Butter. Get a pure, unrefined Shea Butter. It is excellent for the skin!
