Hmm, I thought it was about world wide known. You streatch before a cardio workout (calves, hamstrings, quads,) I thought that was basic anti muscle pull knowledge.

I do both. I stretch before I do cardio to loosen up my joints/muscles and get the blood flowing. I stretch after I do cardio as well. I still get sore, but when I skimp on stretching I get a lot more sore. I also stretch before I lift. I'm a stretchaholic lol. Guess it goes back to my ballet days .
I was taught never to stretch a cold muscle. While theories vary as to when...I've either stretched lightly after cardio for 3 minutes, or at the total end of my workout. When the muscle is warm it is in prime shape to be receptive to stretching without injury.
Yet runners always stretch before a run and their muscles are cold.
So like anything else, I guess it's trial and error.

yeah, theory goes that muscles are like toffee, break when cold but stretch when warm. But like ya say runners n the like stretch when cold.
I warm up first.
