Question

stretching/overdoing it

]I learned the hard way that the innocent stretching for beginners in water aerobics --if slightly overdone -- could result in major discomfort---up and down the back of the leg, could barely walk at end of day, thought I was overdoing walking, swimming, no --it was the stretching ----took me a while to pin it down...

even had the dr. puzzled------any similar experiences?

You sure you were warmed up when you were stretching?

hamstrings? well if you did them too intense and for too long, you would probably get the same effects as say straight legged deadlifts, and in that case yep, I can understand!
