Question

Sweating

I was just wondering how much everyone sweats when they work out? I'm 6'3, 193 and i've been running for about 6 years now. When i work out, I sweat alot. Is this normal? I do drink alot of water during the day...atleast 10-15 12 oz cups minimum. I work out with other people and they just barely sweat. I know they dont work out at the same level as I do, but I start as soon as I get about a mile into my run and I'm usually soaked by the end. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Mike

Genes. Differant bodies react differantly to differant things. Me for example I don't sweat alot when I workout but when I stop I start sweating. It's just body make up.

I don't remember where I read but it was a long time ago. The article stated that Healthy people sweat more than none healthy. It had to do with efficiency of the body. That could be a bunch of bull for all I know but it sounded good at the time. :

For what it's worth, I've read and heard a few different places that the more physically fit a person is, the more they sweat. Something to research..

I sweat a lot no matter what. Walking to work I get all sweaty. It seems as soon as I start any form of exercise I sweat instantly lol. I've read before that the more you exercise the more you sweat because your body is getting ready for you to do a workout.

Yeah im in NC so the humidity gets pretty bad here in the summer. I usually run alone, but yesterday I ran with a co worker and I noticed that he didnt hardly break a sweat. I was running at his pace which is alot slower than mine, but I was the one that was sweating. It was also 84 and relatively high humidity too.

Don't think of it as a bad thing really. If you sweat loads it just means that you'll probably have to drink more water that's all. I can't really give you a good enough scientific justification for what I'm saying but I don't think you should be worrying about it so much.

When I'm on the treadmill I usually start sweating after a mile and I don't particularly go at a high pace (doing a steady 6MPH these days) and I carry on sweating for the rest of the run. I actually feel good when I sweat, but that's just me

You couldn't pay me to live on the east coast! How do you guys live? It gets humid here to where I struggle breathing and over there I hear it's 100x worse. I'd be sweating just to lift my water bottle.

Yea I live in Ontario, and in the summer it's pretty humid. But even this winter I was walking to work in -36 degree windchills and I just get hot and sweaty. I never even wore a winter jacet all winter. The most I wore was a long sleeve shirt with a sweater on top, and a spring jacket. I'm never cold.

My sister was like this all of her life until she had my neice and now she always has the heat on and can't get warm. Body chemistry can change, very weird.

Ah so then there's hope lol. I've always said I'd prefer to be cold than hot. I love winter.

Sweating yea I hardly sweat, well now Im starting to sweat more since i'm lifting more I do sweat more after the workout though.

Yea I hate summer when its summer and I hate winter when its winter..I wish it was alternating climate and every day it would be something random..lol That would really mess up the weather but thats ok..

Research has shown that the cooling system (sweating) gets trained just like everything else does so when you have trained a lot you will start to sweat earlier (before significant exertion). It is the body's way of getting a 'head start' so that it won't fall behind later on. That said...the fat guy sweating in the office doesn't apply...he is just sweating because he is fat.
