So i tried something different today on advice from this thread. Instead of trying to beat my fastest mile time, i slowed it down and went for distance. I ran a little better than 1.9 miles without stopping, which is my farthest ever. It wasn't 2 miles because i walked the first minute for warmup. I completed the first mile in 9:36 and the second in 9:32 for a total of 19:08. Took a bit longer route home so that's probably why the second was almost as long, because my pace was pretty constant. I still continue to be impressed with myself lol.I think next weekend I'm going to try to jog 3 miles straight, but basically anything after 2 miles will be great, so I'm not going to kill myself trying to add another whole mile on at first to a constant jog. Plus i need new shoes, mine are too worn and my knees feel it a bit today.

Another great running performance Firehawk!

Get yourself a good pair of running shoes. Don't be playing cheap with your feet and knees.

Good job of challenging yourself with a longer distance. And while your thought of trying to go 3 miles next week is admirable, I'd suggest either a one mile pedal to the metal run [perhaps a new PR], or better yet, an 800 meter "balls to the walls" first try attempt. These intensities will stoke your metabolism and keep your body guessing. I'm guessing with a proper warmup and your best effort, you'd clock a sub 4 minute 800 meter run.

Keep it up and don't quit before the fitness miracle is completed.

It's 1/2 mile.800 meters = 0.497096954 miles to be more specific. But you may as well take two or three cool down steps and call it 1/2mile.

That'd be interesting. Since i only know the distance of 1 mile in my neighborhood, I'd probably have to go to a track to do that. I'd love to see what i can do in 2 laps though.

my last mile (approx. mile) was 4min 55sec. (lungs were on fire)

did a longer distance just under 1.5mile over 7mins (medium pace) easy

last week got approx. 1/2mile in just under 3min, (my best was 3min 15sec. before) again lungs were on fire.

only been running since April, and it's only like once a week average.

Hi Luke,

Is that sub-5 minute mile time a recent one? It seems unusually fast compared to your recent 1/2 mile time of slightly under 3 minutes.

Thanks for sharing. How about attacking a 1/4 mile soon and posting up.

Good job and keep the pedal to the metal!

it sure does, I need a stop watch, what I do is put my watch on the table and check when I come back.

no that was over a month ago anyway, and also the 1/2 mile I started off as a sprint for a full 1/4mile, it really slowed me up.
