The running/speed walking PR thread
Post your PR for any running or speed walking distance. Any distance is good. Don't like long runs? - no problem, do a 40 meter sprint. And treadmill efforts are also good but please indicate that it was a treadmill effort.
If you haven't run that distance before, then your effort is a PR so you non-runners have an advantage over us runners.
I ran 800 meters today in 2:47.28 thinking it was a PR but I discovered that I actually ran that distance a little faster last July. But I ran a 5:49 mile (treadmill) last Thursday so it will be the first post.
I think the next post should be Eric who ran a 1-mile PR yesterday in 6:15. Congrats Eric.
I don't think this thread will get the number of posts that the weight-lifting PR thread gets, but if we get 20 PRs before the summer is over I will be a happy camper and everyone who posts will undoubtedly be a little fitter.
So whose next? Don't be shy.

Well, it's been said already (thanks Pierini), but here's mine for this week....
1 Mile Run (Outdoor Track)
Time: 6:15
Hopefully I'll have a nice 3-mile time to put in here in a week or two. I've been doing a lot of speed work lately, so it's time for something a little longer.

That would be great. Start ing a new thread for it. Be sure you post up in it. Speed, distance, time, whatever is a PR.

And since this is the running thread I'll post my old running PR.
May '06 - 16 miles. Then stopped running.
Now just doing less than one mile most of the time, but slowly improving. I've got a whole squad of 11-15 year old girls to run with this summer.

I just finished the race I've been training for. It's a marathon, but they offer the option of doing it as a relay which is what we did. There were over 850 competitors in the relay last year (about 200 teams) and although the figures aren't in yet, there was a similair number this year.
Due to an overlong toilet break I had to run my teammates 8 miler and he did my 5 miler, so I went off at break neck speed. After the change over I threw up...for a while. I ran the 8 miles in an hour, which works out at eight 7.30min miles. Not bad, considering how I felt and the wind.
We came fifth.

I just want to clarify that what I have in mind is something new as in NOW!
So save those war story past tense PRs for a different thread. Great job JMike, nothing like a visit from an old friend Pukie to validate that we really put out.

Today I walked 8.93 miles from home to work in 2:21:33 (15:52/mile pace).
Well this isn't "competitive" but it is a PR in my book, beating last week's first attempt of 2:33:08. I plan on continuing to walk to work once a week, as my work schedule permits, and hope to get my time down to a sub-15 minute mile pace.

Well I ran 400m in 1:32.
Far from a good time Im sure considering I had just forced myself through what was an excrutiating 3k just before it and my legs felt like dead weights but it is the only time I have ever timed myself so its a new PR .
Ill put up some ones from fresh soon for me to monitor as I improve my fitness.
