Unhappy

Thunder Thighs

I have really big thighs for my size. I am only 5'5" and my legs make me look stubby so I want to lean them out. Should I do more cardio or high rep weight lifting to thin them out? What are good exercises for them?

This is me again. Actually along with my big legs, Im also trying to just lose weight in general. I am 155 lbs, but i want to get down to around 140-145. I dont know. Im weird. Should I focus more on cardio? or if i were to do high reps, how much weight should i consider?

diet, diet, diet. What you should do is cut first. Use weights so you can get a high rep out of them, eat right and do a lot of cardio, and try to stay on target.

If you want to maintain muscle, lift as heavy as you possibly can in the low to moderate range of reps and make sure that diet is under control. Cardio is good for burning calories, but the heart of cutting is in the diet.

You'll have to lose weight all over, unfortunately. There is no way to drop fat from a given area (Oh how I wish there were - I'd just lose weight around my abs )

These guys are right about diet. I'll try to address the exercise end. Pick a sport and play it two or three times a week - play hard. Barring that, run, bike, swim or skate instead. Once you have a decent level of cardio fitness, incorporate intervals -- slow/fast bursts of energy. An example: sprint for 30 seconds, then jog for a minute, then sprint for 30 seconds, etc.

You'll want to target every muscle group when you lift, but since you asked specifically about the legs, the building block is the squat. For other good exercises, go to www.exrx.net and look under the quadriceps and hamstrings sections of the exercise guide.

Rock out. :
