Tightness in breath/Cough
Guys i have been on my All new diet and exercise program for 2 days now, and last night i noticed a tightness in my breathing, my brother said he heard me coughing all last night from his room, i can believe this as my throat felt ichi as i breath, this morning my chest hurts a little when i breath and it still feels harder to breath than it nomrally does, the bottom of my neck (throat) is red a little.
any1 have any ideas? i have been taking creatine and protein supplements, also ive changed my diet completely, from home made indian currys etc to this.
Meal 1 -
Wheat Cereal, 1 banana, protein shake (cuddnt handle 2 eggs, was stuffed)
after workout i had creatine and protein shake
Meal 2 - Lots of veggies, especially greens on a plate with a tin of tuna
Meal 3 - Potatos or rice and veggies
Meal 4 - Chicken breast and veggies
Meal 5 - some fruit and milk before bed
Cud it be the cardio i did yesterday? its been a while since i did cardio prior to yesterdays session, i usually just lift heavy, or maybe some sort of effects creatine wud give me? i rly dont know... yup, i am going to make a doctors appointment soon, but wud like to know ur opinions and advice, also, shud i lay of the creatine supplement for now?

this thread has many ppl on it who have had the same side affects i have.
Creatine, He Ran A Few Tests And Came To The Conclusion That All My Problems With Heart Rate And Breathing Were A Direct Result Of The Creatine.
Hmmms, Maybe it is the creatine, im probs one off the smaller number of ppl it has bad sideeffects on..
i HAVE had tight breathing problems in the past, like for a few days etc, once when i was like 8 and then another 2 years ago, it goes after a day or 2, but this time, i also had a ticklish throat which led to my coughing, anyways, its rly hard for me to judge wots causing it, since my exercise, diet, etc has all changed, but atm, my only guess is the creatine, sad to say was looking forward to using it regularly. shi* happens :/
I envy the majority that use it with no probs wot so ever... Lucky

Well, it's unlikely that creatine will actually cause you problems. But if you are sensitive to one of the ingredients that is used in production then perhaps you should leave it alone. Even the fears that excessive use will cause renal damage has been shown to be unfounded, according to my doc.
But each of us is different and you may be intolerant of something used in the production process. Drop it and see if your symptoms go away.

This sounds like it could be asthma to me. Do you have a history of asthma or other respiratory issues?
Anyway, if there's a chance the creatine could be causing what you're experiencing, I'd drop if for a few days. If the symptoms go away, you know what caused them. If not, get checked out by your doc. Like Andy says, it could be not the creatine itself causing it, but rather another ingredient.

Could be you just caught something. Try taking a few drops of oil of oregano everyday and it will clear it right up.

Thanx for ur replies,
I dont think its asthma, during high school and college etc i used to run all the time with no breathing difficulties. i have got some good news tho , this morning my breathing seems almost 100% again i didnt change anything apart from laying off creatine..... i kept my diet, exercise and protein shake intake the exact same and it seems to be clearing, wot do u think guys, was it something in the creatine? :/

May well have been Kage.
The only way to know for certain is to keep everything the same and add creatine back in. If symptoms return...yep, sensitive to something.
Of course that's probably a dumb idea. If you are sensitive (and become hypersensitive i.e. allergic) then you could have an anaphylactic reaction and die.
Most likely though, you caught something. Personally, I wouldn't risk it in the formulation you've got now. You may want to try a different brand, or perhaps check out CEE instead.
An actual creatine allergy is unlikely considering it's a natural substance found in meat and appears in the body anyway.

May be asthma. Possibly anxiety. There is no way we can tell you over the internet. Someone will physically have to assess you. There is such a thing as a reactive airway. It gives asthma like symptoms upon exertion or exposure to cold. This is usually wheezing though.
Just see the doc and find out then. Be sure to let us know what they tell you.

i managed to slip in today to the docs, he did some breathing tests on me etc and said my breathing sounds normal, he told me to stop taking supplements for a few days and see if it goes away, he thinks its some sort of infection or somat, he said it cud be asthma, but he doubts it, he gave me an inhaler to use for 3 days, :/ he said itll help even if its not asthma i have, i took it, it does nothing for me :/ not even a little bit just have to ride it out i guess, :/ then jump back into my exercise routine when its all sorted, ima try the protein shake again once im better, just to see if its that :/ im deffo of creatine tho, i figured i dont need it

Nobody NEEDS it. Here is the formula for results
Nutrition 95% + Training 5% = 100%.
If you eat, lift, and sleep you will improve.
The supplements just add the tiniest edge to the body that is already primed for results from good nutrition and training.
Creatine is just one that actually works. But no supplement is actually needed. You should do just fine without it. :

Oki, second week at the docs, there was no improvment in my breathing, the doc said it might be my stomach, so for the past 2 days i been taking 1 anti acid tablet a day, and its working! its much easier to breathing now, so im guessing my tummy just cudnt take in all the stuff i was eating lols, ima wait a few more days, then get back on track with my training. do u think 1 or 2 protein shakes a day will be oki for me in future? so long as i dont eat as much?
