Time For a Change

Background: Hey guys and girls. I've been lurking these forums for over a year now and for some reason it's taken me this long to finally do something. I've always been the chubby kid, but i'm now 20 and the last couple weeks i've had a few people say that i'm getting fatter. I used to play night soccer and touch football but that stopped when the christmas holidays began and i've been pretty much sedentary sine then.

Last week i cleaned my diet and i started doing HIIT training in the mornings before classes. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

4 minute warm-up
8 x (sprint 20 seconds, rest 10 seconds)
4 minute warm-down.

My first session was really hard but i've noticed it got slightly easier since then.

Question: I have been using mybodycomp.com to track my measurements. Now i didn't expect to see any improvements after only 1 week, but i really didn't expect negative progress.

The measurements below are taken 7 days apart.

Apparently my bf has gone up 1.49%, i've gained 0.5kg, and somehow lost lean body mass?

Is the bf% accurate? Should i be worried? Or should i just keep watch of the measurements alone.

Thanks

After a week you're not likely to see any significant difference in either direction. I'm not familiar with the website you refer to, but no matter what method you use to track your bodyfat, they're all hugely inaccurate. The best way to measure these things is with the mirror or the camera, over spans of months and years.

I guarantee you're healthier now than you were a week ago, and if you keep it up you will be healthier still. Try not to get too distracted by the numbers.

I'm not too worried about all the calculated data the site gives... i'm mainly using it to track measurements. It has an easy interface and i can quickly compare any 2 sets of data.

I agree with tim. I think what you're seeing is simply a result of inherent inaccuracies in measuring and calculating bf. Check it again in a month or so, and you should see some measurable improvement.
