Hi I just joined. Ive been working on losing weight for some time now (about 4-5 months) and I dont seem to be making any progress. Sometimes I feel like Im just gaining the weight. Does anyone have any tips for me to help keep me on track and get me burning the fat?

Start with knowing exactly what your body needs for your activities. Once you know that you can eat a bit less to cut the fat, a bit more to gain muscle.

Get a free account at www.fitday.com and track everything that goes into your mouth for a week. Then you'll know from there where to go...more protein, more fat, more carbs...or less of them.

Overeating will make you store fat. Undereating will make your body struggle to hold on to every ounce of it as long as possible. Eating the wrong foods for your body will not support muscle and will support fat.

What are the right and wrong foods for your body - we don't know yet, but it can be discovered with time, experimentation, and practice.

Hi there!
Everyone is very unique, so while it may seem like you're doing the right thing with eating and exercising it may not be just what your body needs. Sometimes a few small changes in eating and exercise will make a difference. I don't know enough about you to have specific recomendations. Changes in the amount you eat, the types of food you eat, what your meals are comprised of, etc all could be holding you back.

Don't get frustrated. A healthy lifestyle is something to be proud of!

Try a different method to measure progress

Sometimes the scale is not the best way to measure progress. Depending upon what kind of exercises you're doing, it's possible that you are losing fat while gaining muscle. Muscle is much denser than fat, so you could actually be getting thinner and more fit without losing any weight. Try monitoring inches instead of pounds, and measure yourself at the same time of day for a while and see if it makes a difference.

Keep it up, and good luck!
