Tired at school...

It possible to just get so bored that you fall asleep? I only seem to get tired in certain classes and at those times on other days I'm never tired.

Just bored or something wrong?

7-8 hours of sleep, get up and run in the morning and then eat 3-4 eggs, glass of milk, and 2-3 slices of whole grain bread. Classes are around 10:15 and 12:00.

I tend to crash right in my 2:30-3:15 class on the days that I have it, it's pretty sad because I actually like the class and professors good but I just can't keep my eyes open.

I have found that if I eat certain foods I have a better tendancy to stay awake, that and a cup of coffee most of the time will fight off any urge to sleep.

Someone else probably has a more scientific answer.

I have the same problem! Around 1:30-2 I get really sleepy, but only if I'm at school.

I like coffee but that contributes to extra calories that aren't needed by my body--especially the caffiene.

Our problem is probably psychosomatic. One day you were tired in the class and then your mind, the next time you had class, is reminded of the same thing that made you tired. So you get a little sleepy. You can easily break this by pretending you're really interesting in the subject and participating in any class discussions.

A lot of the time, people don't eat low GI foods, which gives sudden increase to the blood sugar level, so suddenly, when the food is digested you get on a high, but once the BSL drops back to level thanks to the release on insulin, you get that lethargic feeling. So, try to eat low gI foods.

Also, stick well clear of caffiene. Studies have proven that memory retention is a lot higher in those who went without caffiene compared to those who had a cup of coffee or a bottle of coke. Artifitial stimulants tend to disperse knowledge in the brain.

Dude, I dont think it matters what you do, if you are "bored" in class of all places, you are going to want to fall asleep. Anyone who has gone through college and didnt like some of their courses should agree with me.

Take the science out of it, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO (other than speed ), you will get tired of sitting there having to listen to somethin you dont want to know or hear...and its almost natural for your body to just say, hell with it, lets shut down lol.

People are forgetting, if you dont WANT TO KNOW THE MATERIAL, YOU WILL NOT LEARN IT, no matter what you do. Ive been in classes fully rested, 8 hours sleep, what have you, and still wanted to conk out, all because the crap was so boring.

"gI"? I just eat stuff like eggs, a glass of milk, and a few pieces of whole grain bread toasted in the morning, multivitamin, possibly w/ a serving of creatine if its a rest day and I'm not going to the gym. Small snack (maybe protein shake or something) between 1st and 2nd period. Lunch is chicken, turkey, or beef sandwhiches w/ lettuce, tomato, and some salad w/ a bottle of water. Another snack at home after school and then whatever's for dinner.

Actually, boredom does not cause sleepiness.

One of the signs of sleep deprivation is that you get tired when you become bored. If you did have enough sleep, instead of getting tired you would be very fidgety and restless.

What is considered enough sleep? Doesn't usually seem to matter how much sleep I've had. On avg. I get 7-8 hours, sometimes a little bit more if I don't want to get up.
