Total lack of motivation

Hi guys, its been a while since ive posted here. I have been really have a tough time lately. I have had zero motivation and dont know what to do. Ive missed the last weeks worth of workout and have not been able to complete a full week without missing one or two. Also, ive been doing Mixed Martial Arts training and ive missed two workouts in a row there. This seems to be something that started a month or so ago and i just cant get myself to stay motivated and consistant. Its not from overtraining thats for sure. Any suggestions? What do you guys do to keep motivated? Thanks guys...

I was in a rut this summer. I'm just starting to come out of it. I think it just takes a bit of time, sometimes we train to much and get too focused on just working out and not on other things we enjoy. I'd say just start back slowly and you'll probably feel like going more and more. I found that I thought about going out for a run a lot but wasn't actually doing it. Once I did it I really wanted to go for another and another etc. Now I'm getting back into it and it feels great!

Key to success in building and maintaining a quality exercise plan is to make sure that it's something that you can live with. I've found in the past that I'll get really pumped and excited about a new regimen ... only to burn out after a couple of weeks. The level of fitness that you're willing to target needs to be based on a structure that you can fit into your lifestyle. While invariably improving your health means that some changes in lifestyle are necessary, only you can decide how much. This applies to both exercise and nutrition.

It's better to be consistent with less exercise than to ride a rollercoaster of too-much, then total-abstinence ... then back on the bandwagon (feeling bad that you "fell off" in the first place). Challenge yourself ... but don't go overboard. Small incremental improvements are usually best.

Sounds like you were really gung-ho, but for one reason or another, can no longer maintain that pace. Rather than fold up the tent, try a stripped-down routine that emphasizes intensity and can be done in under 30 minutes.

Also, try taking the weekends off from lifting. That should give you a nice rest and get you pumped up for the next week's workouts.
