Training schedule...please critique

Hi guys. Its been quite a while since ive posted, tons of things have gone on in my life and the internet has lost a bit of its importance. Luckily for me ive goten them straightened out and things are looking up. Anyways....

I want to post my training schedual to see what you guys think of it, along w/a workout. It would love a critique of what i am doing.

My goal is just personal fitness and strength. Also, ive been training in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) for a few months now and love it. I seriously doubt i will ever compete unless its in grappling tournaments but i want to get into as good of shape as i can so i can hold my own against the guys i train with, the majority of whom are professional fighters.

My diet has defenitely been off lately and thats something i am going to be working on also.

Any help, thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

For my lifting i tend to go as heavy as i can and do about 3-4 sets per exercise.

Here is my schedual:

Monday

Chest/Shoulders/Tri (usually done around 5pm after work)
Benchpress
Incline Press
Military Press
Upright Rows
Close grip bench
Tricept pushdowns

Tue
Cardio (6am before work)
2-3 mile run
MMA (8-9pm)

Wensday

Back/Bi (5pm after work)
Deadlifts
Pulldowns
close grip pulldowns
seated rows
dumbell curls

Thursday
Cardio (6am before work)
2-3 mile run
MMA (8-9pm)

Friday

Legs
Squats
leg extensions
leg curls
calf raises

One the things im concern with is the days i do lifting and cardio. I have no controll of the days i go fight but these i can switch around a bit. Since the mixed martial arts training is so intense i put cardio in the morning on those days because i figured my lifts would suffer. Its hard to fit so much in one week.

For those who dont know what Mixed Martial Arts is, its a combonation of wrestling, kickboxing and brazilian ju-jitsu. The two hours of training are real intense. There are no forms involved, if we are not sparring or rolling we are learning knew techniques. Everything is full contact. Alot of fun but tough....

Yeah, looks good.

You might want to mix in some different things every so often so that your routine doesn't become a rut. Lateral raises and shrugs for shoulders, barbell rows and weighted chinups/pullups for back, barbell curl and DB hammer curl for biceps and skullcrushers or dips for triceps are good changeups.

And vary the intensity of your cardio to shock your system - sustained run once day, intervals the next, stadium steps the next, etc. Variety is the spice of fitness. :

Yeah i have been thinking about getting into something like boxing or some kinda of martial arts. Sounds fun and a great way to get some cardio.

Klinger.....thanks for the advice, ill defenitely have to mix it up a bit. Also, would heavybag work at home be considered cardio???

rrouleau....yeah, mixed martial arts is great. real intense but its very different than taking your traditional karate or tkd class. there are no forms and sparring is full contact. everything is geared towards real fighting.....

Hey Arith,
Well looks like your working hard. I would suggest that you take out the incline bench press and replace it with pec deck or any other chest exercise that requires your muscle to work in the transverse plane of motion. The chest muscle is best worked out through this range of motion rather than the up and down motion you perform while doing flat bench press. Try it!
