Training sources for running

I am looking for sources on training for running.

I am hoping to enter a 5k run in a couple of months. After starting walking 2 miles/day back in the spring, I have worked my way through interval (walk/run) training until I am doing 3 miles/day with only 2.5 - 3 laps walked. My time for 3 miles has gone from 42 min down to 36 min.

Way back when, I was a sprinter, so I'm really at a loss as to how to train for endurance except to keep increasing the amount I run and bringing the time down. My goal for Oct 1 was to set a 12 minute mile pace and I made that. I am wanting to set a gola of 10 minute mile pace for the end of Nov, but don't know if that is a reasonable goal. In the past, I always pushed too fast and either burned out or caused injuries.

I also have no idea how to train for proper breathing.

Does anybody know of a good book or website that goes through basics on training for distance (if you consider 5k distance) running.

Runningroom.com has alot of info and a great discussion board. runningworld.com has a lot of good info and training information. Coolrunning.com is good and has a place to track your runs, how many miles/km per week, track your shoe usage etc.

Oh and 5k is running! Tons of people use that as their first goal or race! Happy Running!
