Update...

Hello!

I just wanted to give you an update on how I'm doing. I'm doing well. I'm going into my 3rd week of my training program and it's going really well. I have been sticking to my training and diet (although I let myself indulge in 6 pieces of dairy milk chocolate and 10 hershey hugs for one night. I have a good reason - Mother Nature came for a visit. lol. It was good enough reason for me.) Anyways, I let myself enjoy them because I craved milk chocolate. I have really cut back on other junk foods but I generally crave milk chocolate only once a month so I will allow myself to have some.

However, I have been staying on track and eating well. I am taking in about 1600 calories/day and eating about every 3-4 hours. I have also been working out about 4-5x/week doing a mix of cardio/resistance training. I have been using the stability ball, bosu ball, medicine ball, tubing band and a bench for most exercises. I will incorporate the machines from time to time but generally, I like using the above equipment. Once I am finished with this program, then I will get into using more of the machines but for now, I will stick with this.

I haven't lost a lot of weight but I have been feeling tighter, and leaner. Another thing that I have noticed, which has been a big plus for me is that I have more energy even during my workouts. I use to feel sluggish and tired during some of my sessions but during the past 3 weeks, I have noticed that I have the energy to complete my cardio training and then do the resistance training that follows. I have been using the treadmill for most of my cardio - jogging/walking combo, or just jogging or running. I will play around with the intensity and speed buttons so that I am working with my MHR. I read an article the other day about how much harder you have to work once you are more fit and even though I know this, I didn't apply it to myself so I have been really trying to 'kick it up a notch' when working out on the treadmill.

I have also noticed my very sore muscles! I almost didn't want to finish my workout today because my muscles were really sore especially my inner and outer thigh, abs, and glutes. It hurt to do my lunges (on the bosu ball), squats (on the bosu ball) and body raises (on a bench). I kept imagining a trainer there telling me not to stop and if I did, he would make me start over. He was quite demanding. lol. I am happy to report that I finished my sets.

I was hoping to have a 'rest' day tomorrow but by the looks of it, I have a session! Darn. I am proud of myself for sticking with this. Right now, I just want to be consistent with my workouts and eating. I also want to enjoy my workouts (which I am) and enjoy my meals (which I am doing also). Hopefully, by the end of the 5th week, I will notice the numbers going down.

I should get the person at the gym to take my bodyfat % so I have something more accurate to measure my progress by. I have several friends and other people who are surprised when I tell them that I weigh 150lbs. They think that I'm 12-15lbs. less than what I weigh so I am curious to know what my bodyfat % is.

Thank you for posting !: It sounds like you've found your groove. When you are ready, keep cranking up the intensity like you said.

We love to hear about your success.

Wow, Joanne! It sounds like you are doing great! It's hard not to be impressed with your dedication. Keep up the great work!

I think you aren't losing weight on the scale because you are building muscle. That's ok. Try not to focus too much on the number on the scale. I am in the same boat as you with people thinking I weigh less than I actually do. If you can't get your BF measured regularly, you can also measure things like you waist, hips, arms, etc to see how you are progressing.
