Using Resistance Bands

I used these for the first time yesterday and WOW...I am really feeling it today! I exercise to videos and I had never used these before. I couldn't believe what a workout it was. Have any of you ever used these before and what did you think?

It depends on the amount of resistance that you're after. Most don't offer that much. I have a set that I simply never use, but swear that I should spend some time playing with them to develop some sensible routines. Certainly, if you feel it, then it's working for you.

Well....I'm sure part of the reason I felt it is because I haven't done any strength training in the last 3 weeks. I enjoy cardio more so I find myself putting off my strength training stuff. I'm easing my way back into it tho.

Anytime I ever tried resistance bands they were either too stretchy or so tight they were like instant joint pain. They would be good for a traveller who does not have access to a hotel gym.

My elbows hurt just thinking about them.

Bingo. I pack a set of bands when I'm on the road and the hotel I'm staying at has little/nothing in the way of resistance equipment. I have to do 12-15 reps with them though if I want to get any real mileage out of them.

yeah but aren't bands made to attach to a rack and then you place the other ends on the barbell so that you get more resistance at the top of your bench, etc? Not really made for standalone usage are they?

If you use them with actual barbells and heavy weight , you dont' need alot of resistance from the band to feel it.

The system of bands that I purchased have four separate bands (each with a unique resistance level) that clip onto handles in various combinations -- very smart. The following combinations are possible:
05.0 - 06.0 lbs (band 1)
07.5 - 08.5 lbs (band 2)
10.5 - 12.0 lbs (band 3)
12.5 - 14.5 lbs
15.0 - 18.0 lbs (band 4)
15.5 - 18.0 lbs
18.0 - 20.5 lbs
20.0 - 24.0 lbs
22.5 - 24.5 lbs
23.0 - 26.5 lbs
25.5 - 30.0 lbs
27.5 - 31.5 lbs
30.5 - 36.0 lbs
33.0 - 37.5 lbs
38.0 - 43.5 lbs
