Water before cardio

I understand that being well hydrated before, during, and after your workout is very important. But I have recently started running alot more as my choice of cardio (up to 3 miles nonstop!) and I have found that if I don't drink as much water during the day before my run, my performance is much better. Is this normal, or is it just coincidence? Also, drinking a lot of water doesn't seem to affect any of my other cardio activities, just running. Thanks for your help!

I would say it's coincedence. I personally don't need any water unless I'm out for an hour or more. The only time I make sure to have tons of water is the day before a really long run, like 8 or 9 miles.
