Weak Knees...
Hey I didn't know where I should post this so I thought this was the most appropriate forum.
Anyways I was just wondering what can I do to strengthen my knees? Like whenever I go on my knees on a hard surface it is really uncomfortable. I can only stay on my knees for a short time or the pain becomes agonizing. Is there anything I can do to strengthen my knees? Thanks for any advice .

get knee pads?!? just kidding.... you can strengthen your knees by Deep ass to ground squats, but this and gonna build a layer of muscle on your knee caps to prevent bruising form being on the ground.... you are kind of screwed there buddy.

Do you do any high-impact activities such as basketball, volleyball, sprinting, etc? If so, that's almost certainly related to your knee pain, so you might want to take a break or cut down.
Could your weight be an issue? If you're top heavy there may be too much weight on your knees, in which case you could look to reduce your weight and/or build up your leg muscles a bit.
I wouldn't recommend doing squats whist you've got sore knees, as that could make it worse. I'd look to get the symptoms down first (see below) before doing weight training.
To reduce the symptoms you can use ice and Ibuprofen (the reduce the swelling that causes pain). Also try googling for "anti-inflamatory foods".

My knees only hurt when I'm down on them on a hard surface, they don't bother me while standing or anything like that it's just when I'm on my knees on a hard surface. It's not like unbearable pain or anything it's just really uncomfortable.

I know the feeling, I get that sometimes myself.
Any idea what might be causing it, eg. high-impact sports or being top-heavy?

I know the knee pain that you describe. They are just tender. Best remedy is to kneel as in praying on a harder surface. Take an interval approach - 20 seconds on your knees then stand and recover, repeating for multiple rounds.
My wife, who prays alot, has knees that can break concrete slabs. Mine are pretty tough too although my left is not as hardened as my right.

Don't ask that question to my wife because she would have you kneeling and praying so much your knees would be as hard as concrete.
Play it by ear, start off on carpet and advance to tile or concrete. You can also do knuckle pushups on the concrete to callous your knuckles to match your knees.

Im pretty sure ass to calves squats are NOT good for your knees. To strengthen your knees you need to do squats but only go paralell and then back up, going all the way down is very unecessary and is bad for your knees if you have alot of weight. Going paralell is safer and is good for you knees even if you are using heavy weight.

wow really..... cause everything Ive ever read, (not just including here) has associated knee problems/injuries with going only parallel on squats... parallel, leaves all the stress on the knee when its half flexed, when you flex the knee completely the weight isnt sitting on your half flex knee. thats like saying doing 100lbs Bicep curls are better if you only pull them half way up.
recap... ATG squats are king and for real men (and women) only, parallel squats are for people who are weak and looking for a knee injury.
PEACE!
