What Drives Your Passion

So what keeps you going?

Whether it's running, body building, weight lifting etc...

Even when I get lost from the gym for a while I don't stop running.

I can't it's part of who I am. I love everything about it.... it's inspiring, invigorating... it gives me energy, lets me think about any thing and everything. I feel 300% better after a run no matter how bad I didn't want to go.

I think what keeps me going is more the feeling I have the next day. The pas couple of days I missed out on working out and I could feel it in my body. But I worked out last night and even though I'm a little sore I feel great.

Plus I'm an Aries, so I'm a bit of a narcicist. If I weren't working out I wouldn't want to look at myself in the mirror.

1.) I'm partly motivated by fear: Extensive cardiac disease in my family, coupled with every male in my family getting diabetes by age 50.
2.) Partly motivated by mood: Depression runs in the family, and I notice a distinct change in my "happiness quota" if I go for a few days without popping a sweat.
3.) But mostly motivated by the sheer joy of the process. I've grown to love challenging myself, the sense of satisfaction derived from a great workout.
4.) It's become "What I do." Recently I was griping that I was running low on free time. I do spend ~1 hour at the gym 4 times a week. But what would I trade that for? More time sitting on the couch watching TV? That's no fun. And TV time doesn't reward me anywhere near as much as gym time. I'd rather be an exercise guy than a TV guy.
5.) I like looking better nekked.

Have fun,
Cliff

well I was raised by a pack of women, and so I really had no direction or clue as to how to be a man. I had to figure it out myself. I was never pushed into sports, although I am great at all sports, I was never taught to eat right, nothing... So I think the fact that I had to teach myself everything I know, alone keeps me motivated.

Weightlifting is my passion in the physical fitness aspect. I love the way I feel, I love being sore and in pain, I like the way its making me look, even with the little bit of fat ive added, Im glad to know that I have a new tool to help combat against old age, and that is working out.

I know i wont look like the guy at my work with the broken back, and the narrow skinny shoulders that point forward, who limps all over the warehouse with his bow legs, and is missing all kinds of teeth from too much sugar prolly, and has chicken legs and stick arms but has santa claus's belly, and cant breathe from walkin up one flight of stairs. That will never be me. I will never let that happen to me.

1) I love getting stronger and making eyes turn when I lift because of it

2) I can't stand to be sedentary for very long and never could

3) It helping me finally rebuild my back muscles after a fractured back 11 years ago and being told I could probably never build them up because I never got any medical care and my cartilage hardened.

4) The results in the mirror

5) It's the only thing that gives me an appetite and keeps me eating enough and not going back to anorexia

6) I LOVE it

1. I grew up with two sick parents (father had emphysema which led to lung cancer from smoking... he died when I was 28... mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987... she is thankfully still alive... both were/are overweight and out of shape). I want to be healthy and strong for my future children so they need not worry about having a sick father that needs constant care.

2. For me it's also about control... especially with diet. I eat to live, I do not live to eat.

3. Lastly vanity. I like to look and feel great.
